About the ‘Assessing China / The TEA Collaborative’ blog at mterrycooke.com
This is ‘the commons’ where I invite everyone I know now and hope to know in the future — from policy, business, academics, the not-for-profit arena, and from concerned global citizenry anywhere — to share thoughts about the future of U.S.-China engagement — particularly in the areas of technology, energy & environment, and the global commons. This is a space for thoughtfulness, knowledge-exchange and mutual respect. Those who demonstrate unwillingness to adhere to these simple guidelines will find themselves respectfully but firmly escorted out.

I completely agree with your important point, that it’s vital to try to see the world through the eyes of people with different circumstances and values – to try to understand your counterpart’s motivations, values, and thought processes. Fingers crossed that our national leaders will see China through that lens, too.

Terry, living in Austria during Covid makes it hard to get precise information and analysis about China than when living in Beijing did. I commend you for your analyses and insights from which I derive so much. Thank you!
